Green Park Royal Berkshire 10K, Sunday 20 May 2018
We’re lucky enough to be the official charity partner of the Green Park Royal Berkshire Reading 10K. In 2017 we had 18 runners including our Patron Lord Carnarvon. Plus 6 year old Oscar running his first race the mini mile and 9 year old Lucie running 3K, both fundraising for Launchpad too. It was a beautiful sunny day and our runners raised over £12,000.
We also had a team 20 race volunteers who got involved without the need to run and worked super hard on the drink stations along the route and at the end of the race.
If you’d like to run for us in 2018 we offer you a free place, a Launchpad running vest and a banana and bottle of water at the end of the run, in return for raising a minimum of £75 in sponsorship.
If you’d like to join our running or marshalling team in 2018 please get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Reading Half Marathon, Sunday 18 March 2018
The town’s biggest athletic event and excellent fundraising opportunity was unfortunately cancelled at 6.30am on the day due to snow.
Despite the cancelled race our 93 runners who were due to take part have raised over £12,000 and are still fundraising and running!
The team from University College of Estate Management ran their own half marathon the week after the cancelled event.
Mark cycled 13 miles on his exercise bike on the day of the cancelled Reading Half Marathon, Becki signed up to run the Putney Half Marathon.
Jonny and Kristian did the full half marathon in the snow anyway and so did the team from Bottomline Technologies. They made it on to the BBC News website with their efforts >
Ros our Nordic Walker achieved an alternative half-marathon around Reading roads and the Thames path, appreciative of the milder weather the pace she set was very challenging and the last two miles took up all her reserves and willpower! But all the generous donations and faith she’d received kept her going and completed the route at a personal best of 3 hours 23 minutes.
Lou was all dressed up with no where to run and was looking at half marathons in warmer climates… California but has since signed up to the Bracknell half marathon!
The team of runners from Peter Brett Associates LLP have donated their Sports Direct vouchers (compensation the race was cancelled) to Launchpad.
Charlotte and Rachel signed up to take part in the Green Park Royal Berks 10K and Rachel also signed up to take part in the Southampton Half Marathon along with the Thames Water team.
Amy is took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
MP Matt Rodda signed up for the Maidenhead Easter 10 (mile) run and Jo ran the half marathon route in the week after following most of the actual route, when she finished she said “Now I can open my medal without guilt as I feel I’ve earned it”
Well done all. We’re so grateful for all the training and fundraising you’ve done and how you’ve carried on creatively achieving your own Reading Half Marathons 2018.
